Description
Trailer of “Our Seeds” to be shown at Byron Shire Short Permaculture Film Festival. 5 -9pm Saturday 5th May 2012 at the Council Chambers in Mullumbimby.
The first ten minutes of Seed Savers’ Newtork’s one hour documentary “Our Seeds” that celebrates traditional food plants and the people that grow them will be shown for Permaculture Day.
Very much inspired by Bill Mollison, Michel and Jude Fanton established Seed Savers in Australia in 1986. Their film encapsulates their Permaculture approach to growing and conserving biodiversity. It introduces those who stand at the source of humanity’s diverse food heritage.
Shot in eleven Asian, European and Pacific countries, the film features Pacific islanders who face great challenges to their way of life, their culture and their traditional cultivation methods.
This is a David and Goliath story where resilience and persuasive logic triumph over seemingly invincible forces that control much of our food. The film gives a light treatment to an otherwise heavy subject, with music recorded on location.
