On reflection and with self-regulation we have made the very difficult decision to postpone the Australian Permaculture Convergence in Kangaroo Valley, which was scheduled for October 2025. We are unable to deliver on the vision for this event that was developed from feedback from past APC organisers in the required time frame. We are determined to make sure that if we do this, we will do it right. In taking on this role to organise the APC – the first time that Permaculture Australia itself has managed the event – we have learned many lessons and faced difficult truths. We appreciate with deep gratitude the efforts of the previous board and organising committee.
As we tie the APC into the broader direction of the permaculture movement in Australia, we are very aware that Permaculture Australia needs to pivot to play its role. The energy around the role that permaculture has in offering real solutions for our world is unprecedented. Things are aligning in ways never before seen, and a convergence is our opportunity to bring all of this together.
We now understand that to deliver on this vision, the event needs to be designed and organised in a completely different way than previous APCs. The new way involves consultation and collaboration across the whole movement in Australia, from elders, members, youth, and including all the emerging complimentary bioregional and regenerative modalities and organisations to co-create a truly engaging and participatory event that activates change.
To support this, we are activating a Convergence Circle, to listen, collect, collate and steward the future of convergences across our country and even around the region.
