End of March to July 2026  in six weekends

Join us to learn how to design a more resilient and regenerative life, through a deeper understanding of natural systems, for the benefit of all Life on Earth.

Location: Snapdragons CIC, Poole Farm & visits to various locations in and around Plymouth

The Permaculture Design Course is the basic course needed to give you a good grounding of permaculture and enable you to use the permaculture design process. This process can be applied both in physical, land-based settings and in social and personal situations. Expect a mix of teaching styles and interactive activities, combining indoor and outdoor classroom work. Grow your personal resilience and empowerment.

Who is it for

This course is for people who would like to obtain the skills to make robust changes to their physical and social environment. It is a good opportunity to learn with like-minded people in a supportive and positive environment. Become part of a network of regenerative, active people in Plymouth and surroundings.

Dates: The course runs for 12 days from end of March to July over 6 weekends:

  • Weekend 1: 28th & 29th March
  • Weekend 2: 18th & 19th April
  • Weekend 3: 9th & 10th May
  • Weekend 4: 30th & 31st May
  • Weekend 5: 27th & 28th June
  • Weekend 6: 18th & 19th July

Content:

  • An introduction to permaculture
  • Permaculture ethics and principles
  • Ecological principles and observation skills
  • Soil, water and treatment, composting
  • Trees, agroforestry and forest gardening
  • Food, wild food & medicine and fungi in permaculture
  • People Care, urban permaculture and social structures
  • Working in groups
  • Personal observation & resilience

The course includes some site visits and various practicals.  It looks in depth at the permaculture design process and includes a continuous homework design exercise.

Klaudia van Gool, see my biog here and Tess Wilmot, who has worked as a community permaculture facilitator in Plymouth for over 10 years. She is part of Food Plymouth and has been organising Always Apples sine 2010.

This course is certificated by the Permaculture Association.
