Permaculture integrates land, resources, people, and the environment through mutually beneficial synergies – imitating the no waste, closed-loop systems seen in nature. Permaculture studies and applies holistic solutions that are applicable in rural and urban contexts at any scale to create resilient and sustainable systems. It is a multidisciplinary toolbox including agriculture, water harvesting, renewable energy, natural building, agroforestry, waste management, animal systems, appropriate technology, economics, and community development.
This PDC is organised by Aranya Agricultural Alternatives at Aranya Permaculture farm, Bidakanne, Zaheerabad.
The course offers a comprehensive introduction to permaculture principles, design practices, and their application, with a particular focus on permaculture in the community. Our 13-day program allows participants ample time to digest theory, get hands-on experience, and become part of the daily rhythms of the Aranya Permaculture Farm. We will also leave students with the tools and confidence to implement permaculture solutions in their own environments.
The curriculum is embellished and customised to the local landscape and to accommodate the needs of each individual participant.
The key focus of this course is to provide participants with an extensive toolkit of real and practical ways to face the most critical challenges of our times.
Participants will not only receive theoretical frameworks but also gain extensive practical experience in each of the following subjects:
