This PDC is organised by Aranya Agricultural Alternatives at Aranya farm, Bidakanne, Zaheerabad.

The course offers a comprehensive introduction to permaculture principles, design practices and their application, with a particular focus on permaculture in the community. Our 13-day program allows participants ample time to digest theory, get hands-on experience and become part of the daily rhythms of the Aranya Permaculture Farm. We will also leave students with the tools and confidence to implement permaculture solutions in their own environments.

The curriculum is embellished and customized to the local landscape to accommodate the needs of each individual participant.

Permaculture integrates land, resources, people, and the environment through mutually beneficial synergies – imitating the no waste, closed-loop systems seen in nature. Permaculture studies and applies holistic solutions that are applicable in rural and urban contexts at any scale to create resilient and sustainable systems. It is a multidisciplinary toolbox including agriculture, water harvesting, renewable energy, natural building, agroforestry, waste management, animal systems, appropriate technology, economics, and community development.

About the Key Facilitator:
Narsanna Koppula is India’s most renowned permaculture practitioner.

Trained by Bill Mollison and Robyn Francis in the 1980s, Narsanna has worked tirelessly for the last three decades to bring ecological and sustainable agriculture to thousands of farmers across India. He is the founder of Aranya Agricultural Alternatives, which conducts extensive permaculture training and education programs in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and implements various natural resource management projects on behalf of national and international organisations.
